Last Friday I took Anne Carter to the doctor because she crashed Thursday night and her temperature got up to 103. It was still high the next morning, so off we went. A strep test and flu test both came back negative. Her ears and breathing were fine. Diagnosis: a virus. Grrr...frustrating because not much you can do besides Tylenol. She was pitiful over the weekend and just wanted to be held and to sleep. She fell asleep in my arms at the doctors office even. This is probably not significant for most babies, but she is a sleep-only-in-the-crib kind of girl. She is not still long enough to ever fall asleep when she is being held.
By Monday morning her temp was down to around 100. We went to her previously scheduled 15 month well visit. She seemed to be getting a little bit better, but we found out this time that it is common to develop an ear infection after having a virus. At least an ear infection can be treated! Other than being sick, she checked out just fine. Her stats were:
Height: 31 1/2" (75th percentile) I think this may be wrong...I am going to measure and get back to you...
Weight: 20lbs 2oz (a little above the 10th percentile) Probably a little off because she had not eaten for 3 days.
Head: 17 3/4" (25th percentile)
I thought that she would get better a whole lot faster after starting an antibiotic, but she was not really better until yesterday! On Wednesday I was so close to taking her back to the doctor because she just seemed to be a completely different baby. She is usually a really active and tough cookie, but she was just lethargic and whiny all day.

Today she is smiling and back to being herself again...except for being addicted to her paci, which she usually only gets in her crib, but has gotten used to having more frequently the past week.
