Evolution of an Allergic Reaction

Monday, February 1st: 11:21 am
Notice what I thought was a rash or bites of some sort.

2:08 pm
Trip to the doc because Benadryl did not solve the problem. Diagnosis: Perhaps an allergic reaction to Amoxicillin. Stop Amoxicillin. Benadryl every 6 hours. Monitor breathing.

7:11 pm
"Rash" seems to be swelling.

7:27 pm

8:03 pm
Bath, Benadryl and Bed. Perhaps the meds will work some magic overnight?

Tuesday, February 2nd: 9:41 am
Apparently meds did not work any magic over night. Call doc to tell about progression. He adds Zyrtec to the med regimen and assures that unless there are breathing problems she is fine and everything will clear up in a few days. Try not to look at her, he said.

Wednesday, February 3rd: 9:12 am
Full blown hives. Ask doc, Ever seen the movie "Hitch"? Decide he needs to see her because what he saw 2 days ago was nothing. Doc assures me she is ok as long as she is breathing fine and by his cool, calm reaction I can tell he has seen this before.

1:04 pm

7:54 pm
Where is Anne Carter? and why is there a leopard in the bath tub?

8:10
Med up and hope it starts to improve by morning.

Wednesday was definitely the worst day. She was on Amoxicillin for a week before the reaction so she still had a good bit in her system to get rid of. It was mostly gone by Saturday. Hope she is not allergic to anything else!
